U.S. SENATORIAL CANDIDATE STEPHANIE PHILLIPS ADVOCATES FOR MERIT-BASED CRITERIA AND FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY IN RECENT SUPREME COURT RULINGS

NV – I agree with the Supreme Court’s recent rulings that addressed issues related to affirmative action and student loan debt forgiveness.

Regarding the Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action, I firmly believe that skin color, race, or cultural background should not serve as determining factors for college admissions or employment opportunities. The selection process should primarily consider objective indicators such as grades and performance. By basing admissions and employment decisions on merit, we can foster a society that values equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their race, cultural background, or sexual orientation. I firmly oppose any approach that perpetuates prejudices or fosters racism, we must shift focus from emphasizing a person’s sexual preference, identity, race, or culture in educational institutions and workplaces. Instead, qualifications and competence should serve as the primary criteria for hiring and college admissions.

Turning to the recent Supreme Court ruling on student loan debt forgiveness, I am strongly against burdening American taxpayers with the responsibility of repaying student loans. Personal accountability should prevail, and individuals who choose to take out loans should honor their commitment to repay them. I firmly believe that forgiving student loan debts not only undermines fiscal responsibility but also serves as a means for political gain. The motives behind such proposals, to secure votes, similar to the controversial open-border policies that allow unauthorized immigration are fundamentally flawed and do not align with the principles of fiscal prudence and responsible governance that our country was built on.

As a U.S. Senatorial candidate, I am committed to upholding meritocracy and advocating for fiscal responsibility. Furthermore, | believe in promoting equal opportunities based on qualifications and performance rather than perpetuating biases.

Stephanie Phillips, U.S. Senate 2024
